Description

Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage arrived at the election court in Southampton on Sunday night in a buoyant mood about his party's chances of securing seat in the European Parliament.

Farage told a scrum of waiting media "the intelligence I'm getting is that the Brexit Party is doing pretty well. The Lib Dems on the remain side are doing reasonably well, but it looks like it's going to be quite a big win for the Brexit Party. Which I'm pleased about."

But he urged caution, joking that "every time I've predicted something in an election I've got it wrong."

When drawn on the chances of the ruling Tory Party, Farage said the results were "bad for the conservatives, and it's also quite bad for Labour," adding that "both of the parties are going to suffer heavily tonight," and that "I hope they both do terribly."
