Description

Hundreds of people marched through the streets of Paris on Saturday to call for a ceasefire in Gaza and condemn Israel's attacks on Lebanon as the conflict continues to escalate in the region.

Footage shows protesters marching while waving Palestinian flags and smoke flares with black, red and green colours. Some demonstrators were heard chanting "Hail, hail to Palestine!" and "What we want is a free Palestine!" while holding banners reading: 'Stop genocide' and 'Gaza, how far will the bloodbath go?' during the rally.

EuroPalestine Association Vice President Nicolas Shahshahani said the 'genocide is growing day by day' due to "Israeli aggression against all of Palestine, in particular the Gaza Strip, and now Lebanon, and now Iran too."

EuroPalestine member Sarah agreed with his sentiments, adding: "This is not normal, they are already occupiers, they cannot decide who the good neighbours are."

"They occupy a place and if they decide that the neighbours do not suit them, they want to throw them out," she added.

French President Emmanuel Macron earlier announced that France will donate 100 million euros in humanitarian aid to war-torn Lebanon after Israeli airstrikes battered the region.

Macron also called for a halt in the delivery of arms used in Gaza during a radio interview earlier this month. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the French president's calls for an arms embargo against Tel Aviv 'a disgrace'.

Israel is currently fighting Hezbollah with airstrikes and ground troops in southern Lebanon and conducting an ongoing offensive against Hamas in Gaza.

The Gaza conflict followed the October 7, 2023 attacks which killed 1,139 people according to the Israeli side. Over 2,600 have been reported killed in Lebanon and over 42,900 in Gaza at time of publication, according to figures released by the Lebanese and Palestinian sides.
