Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faced a lengthy interruption to his speech to relatives of the October 7 Hamas attack victims on Sunday - after some of those present heckled the leader.

Footage shows Netanyahu pausing while shouts of ''shame on you!' and 'be ashamed of yourself' range out.

The memorial ceremony came alongside another to remember fallen soldiers. They marked the National Day of Mourning for the one-year commemoration of the Hamas attack on southern Israel in the Hebrew calendar and the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah.  

Tel Aviv also saw protests led by the relatives of those taken captive by Hamas, calling for an urgent ceasefire and prisoner-swap deal.

According to reports, Mossad chief David Barnea flew to Doha on Sunday for talks with CIA Director Bill Burns and Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi declared on Sunday in a press conference in Cairo that his country had proposed a two-day truce in Gaza and limited hostage-prisoner swap. Hamas had not commented at time of publication. 

The Gaza war began after Hamas launched an attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1,139 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping over 200 and held in Gaza Strip.

In the enclave, Israel military conducted a large-scale campaign of air strikes and ground incursions, killing at least 42,924  Palestinians and injuring more than 100,833 injured at the time of publication.
