Protesters rallied outside the Seventh District Metropolitan Police Department in Washington D.C., following the fatal police shooting that killed an 18-year-old man, identified as Deon Kay, in Southeast Washington on Wednesday.
Protesters were seen confronting a line of police officers standing outside the station, chanting "quit your job."
A protester addressed the crowd, saying "I am sorry that we are still protesting the murders of black people."
"We do not harvest murder. We are sick of this racist pandemic 2020," she added.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the officer responsible for the shooting had reportedly arrived at the site following a report of armed suspects, prompting people near it to run away, which eventually resulted in the shooting, according to media reports.
Following the killing of George Floyd by police officers in Minneapolis in June, the council passed emergency legislation requiring the MPD to release any body camera footage from any fatal shootings or use-of-force incidents within five days of the incident. The department must also release the names of the officers involved.
City officials said they plan to publicly release the body camera footage as early as Thursday.
