Description

Iran's new bio space capsule carrying animals was successfully launched into orbit from the Semnan Space Centre in Semnan province on Wednesday.

Footage shows the Salman launcher built by the Aerospace Industries Organisation (AIO) of Iran's Defence Ministry taking off ahead of reaching an altitude of 130 kilometres from Earth's surface.

The 500-kilogram was built by the Aerospace Research Institute of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. The launch is considered Iran's next step toward sending humans into space.

Previously Iran launched the first bio-capsule in February 2010, with the use of a Kavoshgar (Explorer) carrier.
