Italian defender Leonardo Bonucci toasted his side's Euro 2020 triumph with swigs from Coca-Cola and Heineken bottles in a nod to the furore surrounding the placement of the two beverages at press conferences throughout the tournament.

Bonucci entered the press conference room in London following his team's victory over England in the final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday and took healthy swigs from both bottles. Other players including Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo had shunned the commercial placement of the drinks at press conferences during the tournament but Bonucci proved none so coy.

He and coach Roberto Mancini went on to pay tribute to the team collective and to Italian fans the world over.

"It is suitable that tonight the Italians celebrate in every corner of the world," said Bonucci, who added that the cup was 'coming Rome' and not 'home' to English football as England fans had hoped.
