US Special Presendential Climate Envoy John Kerry gave a speech at the Paris Peace Forum virtually on Sunday, Kerry discussed some of the most important outcomes of the COP26 meeting during the speech.
In his statement, he made sure to emphasise the groundwork laid down together with other nations.
"We're poised to lay the pathway for these next 10 years. People wanted us to come here and keep 1.5 degrees alive. Well, 65 percent of global GDP has signed up to steps that are certified to help keep 1.5 alive."
I'm not happy about some components of what we're going to do. But we see the bigger, greater importance of coming together. And we're going to overlook a few of those small things in the interest of making this happen. We need every country [to] approach it with that attitude in the next hours," he went on to say.
Kerry discussed cooperation with China on climate and environmental issues during his address.
"If we cooperate together and we share information and share data, we share expertise, and come together, we have the ability to accelerate the reductions, which is critical for China," remarked Kerry
