The footage shows the fluffy rescuers at the EMERCOM station taking part in a New Year costume contest and also going through an obstacle course.
The event for the corgi rescuers and their owners was organized as part of New Year celebrations which included gifts for the guests, Father Frost and the Snow Maiden. The New Year characters had to be rescued from the blocked car and smoky room first according to the holiday’s script.
According to Deputy Chairman of the Commission for Emergencies and Director of the Centre for Civil Protection of the urban district of Shchelkovo, Leonid Kiselev, the unusual fluffy rescue squad has more than 130 official dogs as participants.
"We are the best rescuers of Moscow region, the best centre in terms of single duty service. We’ve also become the best operator of the safe region near Moscow Oblast this year. And we also have the most extraordinary support unit, the corgi unit, which has been rallied around [itself] by the dog Marusya," he said.
The corgi rescue squad was formed in 2020. The dogs which assist in finding drugs, explosives, are called upon to search for victims during accidents and also to help rescue squad’s members using emotional relief.
