Description

Hundreds, including civil rights leaders and George Floyd's family, attended a prayer service ahead of Derek Chauvin's trial in Minneapolis, on Sunday.

Floyd's brothers delivered speeches alongside civil rights activist Reverend Al Sharpton and civil rights lawyer Ben Crump.

Speaking to participants Sharpton warned, "They are going to try and tear the family's name down in this trial, these are good people, but they are going to try to make bad people."

He added, "Chauvin is in the courtroom but America is on trial."

"It is only because it was an unarmed Black man's face down, that everybody is talking about this is going to be a hard case, is it hypocrisy," Crump added.

On Monday the trial of the former police officer Chauvin begins. He has been charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter and third-degree murder after being filmed kneeling on Floyd's neck for nearly nine minutes, leading to his death.
