Description

Minneapolis and Brooklyn Center residents shared their thoughts as they visited a memorial for Daunte Wright, where they lit candles on Thursday, in Brooklyn Center.

"Today it's Daunte, tomorrow it might be me or him," said Gabriel Sr., who came with his son Gabriel Jr.. "So yeah, it's very important that we attend these memorials."

The memorial featured a statue of a giant closed fist, which has become a symbol of the Black Lives Matter movement over the past years.

Wright, a 20-year-old Black man, was shot during a traffic stop on Sunday in Brooklyn Center, right outside Minneapolis. According to police, the officer intended to use a taser but mistakenly pulled her gun.

In Minneapolis, tensions were already high amid the trial of Derek Chauvin, the former police officer charged with killing George Floyd.
