Description

Members of the Salhiya family, who were evicted from their home in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood, gathered in temporary accommodation in northern Jerusalem on Thursday.

The family is forbidden to return to their home for 30 days after an Israeli court ruled their displacement was lawful. Israeli authorities evacuated and demolished the Salhiya house on Wednesday morning following a court order.

Adel Salhiya, a member of the family, said "the Israeli army entered the house and beat the young men on the ground and assaulted the women and they were beaten. They brutally assaulted the young men, and took them out without clothes and shoes on their feet."

Yasmin Salhiya, another family member, said "the hardest feeling is that I watch the 25-year effort of my father gone to waste and not return. The memories of my father at home, everything is related to us in that house."

Members of the family are accused of violating a court order and creating a 'public disturbance', according to media reports citing Israeli law enforcement.
