The world-famous New Year's Eve ball dropped in New York City's Times Square at midnight on Friday night through Saturday morning, welcoming the arrival of 2022.
Thousands of residents attended the much-anticipated event at Times Square, with attendees sharing their joy about finally being able to celebrate.
"It's magnificent. The energy, the people, there are people from all over the world. Just having your hair down during this time, we've been in this pandemic and it's just a way to just enjoy, thanking God for allowing us to see another year," remarked one attendee.
"It's amazing and I'm dreaming about it. [I] wait like half a year to be just [here] tonight in Times Square. We're so excited about it," stated another attendee.
Another couple were seen celebrating their proposal on live television. The countdown resumed with everyone at the square counting down the time until midnight. The ball then dropped and people celebrated the coming of the new year.
