The signing takes place after members of all three parties approved the agreement over the past few days.

Then on Wednesday, Olaf Scholz is expected to be elected and sworn-in as the next Federal Chancellor, in the Bundestag, followed by the swearing-in of the new cabinet.

The SPD won the September Bundestag election with 25.7 percent of votes, paving the way for Scholz to take over from Angela Merkel, who held office for 16 years.
