Description

Donald Trump's wife Melania appeared to swerve a full-on kiss with her husband as the Republican National Convention concluded in Milwaukee on Thursday.

Footage shows Donald leaning forward before Melania tilted her head slightly to kiss him on the cheek.

The seemingly awkward moment came after Trump paid tribute to Melania, saying he was 'deeply honoured' to be joined by her ahead of the presidential election.

"You also did something really beautiful, a letter to America calling for national unity. And it really took the Republican Party by surprise, I will tell you," he added. "Some very serious people said that we should take that letter and put it as part of the Republican platform."

Melania's letter, following the failed assassination attempt on her husband on Saturday, called on the US to 'ascend above the hate', while thanking the security services.

Trump also thanked his family, with a particular tribute to Barron, his son with Melania: "We love our Barron," he exclaimed.

Trump's address ended the Republican convention, with the Democratic National Convention taking place next month.
