The 33rd Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2024 kicked off at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) on Monday, embracing the theme 'Where the World’s Tales Unfold' and bringing together esteemed Arab and international writers and thinkers.
Footage shows Egypt's pavilion, the pavilion of the UAE Ministry of Education, the International Center for Strategic Studies, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, as well as the pavilion of China.
Several cultural events could be seen including traditional and folk singing and dancing.
"The International Center for Strategic Studies (ICSS) provided several significant publications that address topics of regional and international interest, and discuss topical issues through analysis and research," said Dr Abbas, a researcher.
Egypt was the first Arab country to be honoured, with the Nobel Prize-winning novelist Naguib Mahfouz chosen as the main focus.
His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs, officially opened the 33rd Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) at ADNEC Abu Dhabi.
The event, organised by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC), will run from April 29 to May 5, 2024, as reported by the Emirati News Agency (WAM).
With 1350 publishers hailing from 90 countries, this year's edition boasts participation from 12 countries making their debut, such as Greece, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Mozambique, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Indonesia.
