"Last week the United States once again took the bold and decisive action to save American lives and deliver American justice," said Trump to a cheering crowd at Toledo while repeating allegations Soleimani was planning attacks on US personnel and embassies.
"Not just the embassy in Baghdad, but we stopped him and we stopped him quickly and we stopped him cold," added Trump.
Trump also criticised Democrats for what he called "outrage over the termination of this horrible terrorist."
Last Friday, Washington carried out an airstrike that killed Soleimani at Baghdad International Airport, sparking a new wave of tensions between Iran and the US.
