Hundreds of activists and protesters gathered outside the US State Department in Washington DC on Tuesday in solidarity with the victims of evictions in the Sheikh Jarrah area in Jerusalem as well as the victims of rocket launches in Gaza.

Activists called out the US Department of State for failing to condemn the killing of the Palestinian people during the recent escalation.

Palestinian-American Congresswoman from Michigan Rashida Tlaib, accompanied by Congressman from Indiana Andre Carson joined the protesters speaking in support of the Palestinian people. ​

Violence has erupted in recent days amid protests in East Jerusalem over possible evictions of Palestinian families from Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood. Clashes that began at the Al-Aqsa compound escalated into an exchange of rockets between Hamas and Israel on Monday.
