Palestinians rushed to rescue those injured and retrieve the bodies of the dead after an Israeli strike hit al-Mawasi Camp in Khan Younis on Saturday.

Footage shows locals transporting dozens of injured and unconscious people, including children, for medical assistance. Footage also shows locals gathering at the shelling site where they can be seen retrieving the dead bodies.

At least 90 people have been killed and another 300 injured in the attack, according to Gaza's Ministry of Health.

Gaza's Government Media Office said in a press statement released on Saturday that, "government and relief teams are still retrieving dozens of martyrs and injured people from the bombing site.

"This massacre comes at a time when there are no hospitals capable of accommodating such a large number of martyrs and injured people," the statement added.

The Israeli army confirmed responsibility for the attack. The IDF announced that the airstrike was conducted in co-operation with the General Security Service Shin Bet. The army also claimed that two Hamas operatives were hiding among civilians in the area.

Hamas responded to the attack in a statement shared on their official Telegram channel.

"The occupation's claims about targeting leaders are false claims. This is not the first time the occupation has claimed to target Palestinian leaders [...]. These false claims are merely to cover up the scale of the horrific massacre," the statement said.

Fighting continues for the tenth month after Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing 1,139 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping over 200 according to Israeli officials.

Israel declared war on the group and a 'complete siege' of Gaza, with a large-scale campaign of air strikes. A ground incursion began at the end of the third week, with Israeli leaders vowing to 'wipe out' Hamas. Palestinian officials reported that at least 38,443 people had been killed and more than 88,481 injured at time of publication.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) claimed that Hamas locations and infrastructure were targeted in the response. However, United Nations experts warned against 'collective punishment' for the people of Gaza, before predicting a 'humanitarian crisis' and then claimed that 'hell is settling in' for the region.
