UFC Welterweight contender Colby Covington commented on the post-match call he received from US President Donald Trump after his victory over Tyron Woodley in their bout on Saturday night, in Las Vegas.
"He [Trump] said that he rushed away from a big rally he just had in front of like 36,000 fans and he had to make sure he got back to watch my fight. And he just told me how unbelievable a good job I did and he is just so excited for me, he wants to see me fight for the belt again and bring him a new belt to the Oval Office," said the outspoken Trump supporter.
Covington also called the Black Lives Matter movement a "sham" and a "joke."
"They are taking these people that are complete terrorists you know, they are taking these people that are criminals you know. These aren't people that are hard-working Americans, blue-coloured Americans. These are bad people," he said.
Covington, who does not currently hold a UFC championship, also slammed Woodley, saying "He didn't want to fight no more, playing it simple. He just didn't want to get knocked out unconscious, so he took the easy way out you know. I don't blame him you know, he is a spineless coward, just like LeBron James."
UFC President Dana White is known for having made significant contributions to Trump over the past five years.
