The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board's two-day meeting kicked off the Lausanne, on Wednesday.
The meeting, which will focus on preparations for the 2020 Lausanne Winter Youth Olympic Games
and 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, is taking place against the background of new allegations made by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) against Russia over alleged inconsistencies related to doping test results.
In September, WADA asked Russia to explain possible signs of manipulation in anti-doping test results handed over to the regulator and related to cases of athletes alleged to have cheated at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. WADA has reportedly given Russia's anti-doping agency three weeks to explain the inconsistencies, with Russia once again facing the spectre of an Olympic ban.
IOC President Thomas Bach announced last week that the organisation would take a "fresh look" at the new claims against Russia.
