The Venezuelan government has officially reopened the border crossing on the international bridge Francisco de Paula Santander between Cucuta, Colombia, and Urena, Venezuela, as seen in Cucuta on Monday.

After an agreement between the two governments, formalities to resume the traffic have been implemented on the Venezuelan side.

Maduro announced the closure of the border after Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido tried to enter Colombia from Cucuta on February 23, 2019. Illegal crossing and trafficking of food between Cucuta and Urena have risen since its closure.
