Description

Madrid's streets were filled with festive spirit as thousands of participants joined the El Corte Ingles (The English Court) Father Christmas Solidarity Race on Sunday. The 5-kilometre run, featuring Father Christmas and elf costumes, created a lively and supportive atmosphere in the city centre.

Organised to benefit the Red Cross's Job Training project for young people at risk of social exclusion, the race offered a complete Christmas kit to each participant. The event, sponsored by El Corte Ingles and supported by various partners, transformed Madrid with artificial snow, Christmas decorations, and Father Christmas on a float.

Participants of all ages embraced the Christmas spirit, with one runner sharing, "The race was a lot of fun. You come here to have fun and nothing more. A good way to start Christmas? Yes, yes, exhausting, but it's worth coming."

For over 30 years, the project has provided training, guidance, and support to young individuals aged 16 to 29 facing challenges in education and employment, according to the official website of the event.

In its 2023 edition, the El Corte Ingles Father Christmas Race not only celebrated the season but also contributed to the well-being of young people striving for personal and professional growth.
