The Syrian Health Ministry dispatched convoy transporting humanitarian aid to Lebanon amid ongoing Israel-Hezbollah military conflict escalation.
Footage filmed in Damascus on Friday shows trucks being loaded with boxes reportedly containing medical supplies as well as aid convoy driving towards the Syrian-Lebanese border.
"This shipment is about 20 tons, and the Ministry of Health is striving, under government directives, to provide our brothers in Lebanon the best level of support," said Mohammed Shamma, director of supplies at the Syrian Ministry of Health.
The IDF announced on Monday, September 23, launching a military operation with airstrikes on Hezbollah positions dubbed 'Operation Northern Arrows'. The attacks have claimed the lives over 700 people, injuring 2,000 since Monday, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health at the time of publication. The shelling targeted several areas in the south: the Bekaa Valley, Mount Lebanon, and Beirut.
Tensions in southern Lebanon have escalated in mid-September following the mass explosions of pagers used by Hezbollah and the Israeli shelling of Beirut's southern suburb, which killed the group’s senior commander, Ibrahim Aqeel, along with 60 others. Hezbollah, in response, launched a rocket attack on areas near the northern Israeli city of Haifa.
Hezbollah, Lebanese, and Palestinian factions have been exchanging cross-border shelling with the Israeli forces since October 8, one day after the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.
