More than 20,000 runners flocked to Paris on Saturday as the French capital hosted the 'Marathon for All' event, a unique opportunity for amateurs to follow in the footsteps of Olympic athletes.
Footage shows excited participants warming up and gathering at the start line ahead of the race, which follows the same route in which Olympic athletes had raced for gold just hours before.
"It's going to be an experience. It's quite unique to be able to follow the path of real athletes for amateurs like me, and I believe that we're all going to experience a unique and quite special moment," a runner said.
"I have already run several marathons, so I am a marathon runner, and I know what it is to run a marathon, but running a marathon at the Olympic Games is my first and only. Here, I will have the maximum pleasure," added a second.
Held between the official men's and women's events, the route spans the full 42-kilometre (26 miles) Olympics marathon distance.
The 2024 Olympic Games will take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11, marking the third time the French capital has hosted the Summer Olympics, following the 1900 and 1924 games.
