Description

A dazzling drone show illuminated the night sky of Shenzhen on Monday, marking the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.

Footage shows drones forming complex patterns in the night sky such as animals, sailing ships in a port and a 'sky city', among others, which drew locals and tourists alike. Families and children were seen watching the show as the aerial displays transformed in colour and form.

"Each district's drone performance has its own unique features. If you want to see them all, you would need to visit each district almost every day. I only managed to go to two districts, so I feel it's a bit of a pity that I missed the others," a local said.

"Many tourists from other regions come here, especially during national holidays, and they specifically come to watch the drone performances in the evenings. As a result, there will be a significant amount of foot traffic," he added.

Last month, Shenzhen earned two Guinness World Records for the highest number of drones regulated from one computer and the largest aerial image created using more than 10,000 units on September 26.

The week-long celebration featured performances across five districts, incorporating cyber fireworks, an innovative digital alternative that complemented the drone display in the sky.

National Day, also known as the Golden Week holiday, is celebrated annually from October 1 and commemorates Mao Zedong's proclamation of the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949.
