The Venezuelan Communications Minister, Jorge Rodriguez, announced on Monday that President Nicolas Maduro had decided to grant a series of pardons to 110 members of the Venezuelan opposition, "in order to promote national reconciliation and the search for peace.”

Speaking from Caracas Rodriguez said that among the beneficiaries of the presidential decree are opposition deputies such as Freddy Guevara, Freddy Superlano, Tomas Guanipa, Miguel Pizarro, Americo de Grazia, Simon Calzadilla and Henry Ramos Allup.

The list includes politicians based outside Venezuela, and others who are located inside the country but are not at liberty, such as the deputies Gilber Caro and Renzo Prieto.

The measure will become effective upon publication in the Official Gazette.
