Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen boarding a flight bound for Moscow on Monday as he embarked on his first state visit to Russia since the onset of the conflict in Ukraine.
Modi will arrive in Moscow during the first leg of a three-day trip which will also see him travel to Vienna.
During his time in Moscow, Modi will attend a private dinner with President Vladimir Putin before co-chairing the 22nd Annual Russia-India Summit.
"I look forward to reviewing all aspects of bilateral cooperation with my friend President Vladimir Putin and sharing perspectives on various regional and global issues. We seek to play a supportive role for a peaceful and stable region," Modi said in a statement.
Modi is expected to arrive in Moscow on Monday afternoon and depart for Vienna on Tuesday, where he will meet with Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Karl Nehammer.
