Brexit is now an "irrefutable, irresistible, unarguable decision" according to UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson who spoke at a press conference in London following the Conservative party's landslide win in Thursday's general election.

"I have a message to all those who voted for us yesterday, especially those who voted for us Conservatives, one nation Conservatives for the first time. You may only have lent us your vote, you may not think of yourself as a 'natural tory' [...] And if that is the case, I am humbled that you have put your trust in me, and that you have out your trust in us. And I and we will never take your support for granted," said Johnson.

He added that he would "put an end" to all the "arguing" and "squandering" and "get Brexit done on time, by the 31 January, no ifs, no buts, no maybes."

Johnson's Conservatives secured the biggest majority since the 1980s with 364 seats, with one result still to be declared, while the Labour party won 203 seats, down 42 from 2017.
