Description

A ceasefire was seemingly still in force along the Turkish-Syrian border, near Akcakale on Tuesday, as the five-day halt in combat activities drew to a close and a new agreement between Turkey and Russia came into force.

Turkey agreed to pause last week's assault and has now struck a deal with Russia over the conditions for the "safe zone" in north eastern Syria. Both sides will carry out joint border patrols while the Russian military will help facilitate the removal of Kurdish militia from the area.
