British Prime Minister Boris Johnson arrived at Westmintser early on Thursday morning to cast his vote in the UK general election. He was accompanied by his pet Jack Russell-cross puppy, Dilyn and some of his aides.

Polling stations opened at 0700 GMT in 650 constituencies across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Official results are expected to start coming in after polls close at 2200 GMT. This is the third UK general election in less than five years.

On October 29, the UK's House of Commons voted 438 to 20 to approve Prime Minister Boris Johnson's bill calling for an early general election on December 12.
