Description

A ship reportedly carrying 50 Saudi nationals evacuated from the ongoing fighting in Sudan arrived in Jeddah on Sunday.

Footage shows Saudi authorities greeting the passengers aboard the ship after it docked in the Red Sea port. Women and children carrying Saudi flags were also seen inside the ship.

Passengers aboard the rescue ship include the crew of a Saudi passenger plane that was reportedly hit by gunfire before taking off from the Khartoum International Airport when the fighting started, according to Saudi state TV.

Saudi state TV also reported that the ship was carrying 'a number of nationals from friendly countries'. Four other ships carrying 108 people from 11 different countries are expected to arrive in Jeddah later in the day.

At least 413 people have been killed and 3,551 others injured since the fighting erupted in Sudan, the World Health Organization said on Friday. Dozens of hospitals have reportedly been forced to close following the clashes.

A power struggle between the army, led by Sudan’s de facto ruler General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the RSF forces of deputy leader General 'Hemedti’ Mohamed Hamdan Dagolo, has been ongoing throughout the last week.
