Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James said the police shooting of the African-American Jacob Blake in Wisconsin was unjustified, and expressed the fear of the African-American community in the US because of police brutality. James made his comments during an interview after his team's victory over the Portland Trail Blazers in Orlando, Florida on Monday.

"If you are sitting here telling me that there was no way to subdue that gentleman or detain him before the firing of the guns, then you are sitting here and you are lying to not only me, but you are lying to every African American," said James.

James voiced the fear of the black community in the US because of the police shooting incidents and said, "We are scared as Black people in America. Black men, Black women, Black kids. We are, we are terrified."

The Lakers star expressed his sadness because he "can't even enjoy a playoff win right now" and called for voting in the next presidential elections to bring about a change, which "doesn't only just end in November, but it starts there."

Jacob Blake, an unarmed 29-year-old black man, was shot multiple times in the back on Sunday, by an officer with the Kenosha Police Department in Wisconsin, as his children watched from a vehicle.

Blake is reported to be in stable condition in an intensive care unit.

Footage of the police shooting emerged, sparking protests.
