Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said on Tuesday that the Norwegian Dialogue Commission is in the country to mediate in talks with the opposition.

“That the entire right-wing opposition, especially the extremists, have accepted the dialogue through Norway is our great achievement,” said the president.

Maduro confirmed his willingness to engage in dialogue with different sectors of the opposition, including the one headed by Juan Guaido, indicating that he has already put several points on the negotiating table.

Previous attempts to establish a dialogue with the opposition sector headed by Guaido failed to come to fruition. The last attempt took place in 2019, also with Norway as a mediator.
