Description

Several hundred students marched in Paris on Thursday afternoon, protesting against the pension reform bill supported by French President Macron and his government, and against what they see as 'police brutality' towards anti-government demonstrators.

Participants of the rally gathered in front of the Pantheon near one of the Sorbonne University buildings, which was barricaded with rubbish bins.

Demonstrators marched through Latin quarter towards the Bastille square, shouting out chants against the pension reform and the French authorities. The rally was called by the national student co-ordination organisation.

The Constitutional Council deliver its own verdict on the pension changes on April 14.

The decision by the French government to compel the National Assembly to enact the pension reform that raised the retirement age from 62 to 64 triggered largescale, violent protests across the country, which so far show no signs of abating.
