US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived at Sochi International Airport on Tuesday, ahead of his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. This is his first visit to the country as US Secretary of State.

The officials are expected to discuss a wide range of multilateral and bilateral topics, as the two countries are in disagreement over a number of issues, including Venezuela, Iran, Ukraine and the detention of citizens from both countries, including alleged Russian foreign agent Maria Butina and alleged US spy Paul Whelan.

Pompeo’s visit also comes in light of the recent release of the Mueller report.
