Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen greeting local diaspora in Kazan ahead of the BRICS Summit on Tuesday.

Footage shows dozens of people waving Indian flags and greeting the politician who waved in reply and clasped his hands together in the 'Namaste' gesture. The prime minister was also seen enjoying the dance performed in traditional Indian outfits in the pavilion.

The 16th BRICS Summit in Russia's Kazan is scheduled for October 22-24. World leaders from more than 20 countries are expected, with delegations from over 30 nations, for one of the major economic, political and cultural events of the decade.

Russia has chaired BRICS since January 1, 2024. The group also expanded this year, growing in both size and influence to nearly half the world’s population and a third of the global economy.
