US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin appeared to share a few jokes while waiting to begin their official bilateral meeting in Osaka on Friday.

In comments caught by the camera, Trump appears to joke about the media, saying "I think there might be some media out here, what do you think? Do you think there might be a couple of cameras?"

He then also seemed to say that Russia doesn't have the problem of "fake news". "You don't have problems, we have, you haven't."

"We have them too. The same," Putin assures his American counterpart in both Russian and English.

The two leaders then decide who should begin the meeting, with Trump referring to Putin affectionately as "Vlad" and proceeding to say "Do you want me to start, should I start? Do you wanna start?"

The light-hearted exchange concludes with Trump appearing to say "It's like the Academy Awards, stupid."

Leaders of 19 of the most influential countries in the world and the European Union are meeting in Osaka on Friday and Saturday for the 14th Group of 20 summit to discuss climate change, free trade, and economic inequalities among other issues.
