"The relations between Russia and Egypt have been developing quite energetically. We have plans to take them to the next, more advanced level," noted Putin.

The Russian leader also paid tribute to Sisi's role as the co-chair of the Russia-Africa Summit, hoping that it will help to "facilitate the development of relations between Russia and African nations. And, of course, I am glad to discuss bilateral relations as well as the situation in the region."

Leaders of 19 of the most influential countries in the world and the European Union are meeting in Osaka on Friday and Saturday for the 14th Group of 20 summit to discuss climate change, free trade, and economic inequalities among other issues.
