Description

US Secretary of State John Kerry and Executive Vice President of the EU Commission Frans Timmermans spoke in Milan on Saturday, calling for environmental protection and solidarity in the lead up to the UN's COPA26 climate conference.

"My hope is still that we can find some agreement on some things that would be able to be constructive in the overall efforts that we were making here," Kerry said when inquired about China.

"But I called on all G20, all large economy countries, all of them, need to try to stretch to do more and not singling out one nation over another," he added.

Secretary Kerry is currently on a European tour having visited Geneva and Milan on a special presidential climate envoy.

Kerry will arrive on Sunday in Paris to meet with other OECD members for the 'Shared Values: Building a Green and Inclusive Future' conference.

The UNs COPA26 climate summit will be held from October 31 to November 12 in Glasgow.
