Around six thousand Iranian workers attended a commemoration ceremony for the second anniversary of General Qassem Soleimani's assassination, in Tehran on Wednesday.
"The most important and greatest revenge that will be taken from the criminals of this great incident, God willing, is their destruction and decline. The pace of destruction and the end of the Americans and the Zionist regime has doubled in these two years. The resistance front has become stronger, its resistance has become more prominent, it has taken longer steps, and we see the effects of despair and hopelessness on the faces and positions and behaviour of Americans," said General Hassan Hassanzadeh who acts as Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander in Tehran.
Soleimani was killed in a US airstrike at Baghdad's international airport, together with the deputy leader of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) Mohammed Ali Ebrahimi, also known as Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis on January 3, 2020.
The Pentagon released a statement confirming the US had carried out the airstrike at the order of its then US President Donald Trump, calling it a "decisive defensive action to protect US personnel abroad."
