Chefs preparred different meals to serve the residents of the region, while locals waited in line outside a high school building to receive their daily meals.
“We have been here since the first days of the earthquake. We serve food to 100,000 to 110,000 people a day, at noon and in the evening,” explained Mehmet Cirak, one of the volunteers.
According to the staff, around 23 million meals have been delivered to the victims of the disaster in Kahramanmaras, one of the areas most affected by the tragedy.
“Due to the earthquake, we have difficulty finding raw materials, but we still prepare the dishes by using fresh ingredients in the most appropriate way for the season,” said Seda Nur Bodur, another volunteer.
On 6 February, two 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes rocked Kahramanmaras, Hatay, Adıyaman, Gaziantep, Malatya, Diyarbakir, Sanliurfa, Kilis, Adana and Osmaniye in Turkey, as well as some areas in Syria.
