Description

The Israeli military released footage on Monday after ending a three-day raid on Kamal Adwan Hospital, claiming to have arrested dozens of militants including Hamas fighters that had participated in the October 7 attack.

Footage shows IDF soldiers entering the hospital and securing the building where weapons and ammunition can be seen lying on the ground.

"The IDF and ISA conducted a precise operation in the area to thwart terrorist activity and apprehend terrorists. Before beginning scans in the compound, the soldiers enabled civilians to leave the hospital," an IDF statement read adding that 'essential hospital systems' have been previously backed up to ensure the safety of the patients.

"A number of terrorists – including Hamas terrorists who took part in the October 7th Massacre – had barricaded themselves inside the hospital. The soldiers apprehended approximately 100 terrorists from the compound, including terrorists who attempted to escape during the evacuation of civilians," The statement further read adding that weapons, money and intelligence had been found during the operation.

"The Israeli army's targeting, siege and shooting of Kamal Adwan Hospital and the arrest of health workers and several wounded and sick people is a war crime and a major violation against humanity," Palestinian Health Minister Majid Abu Ramadan said last week according to media reports.

The government office in Gaza stated on Friday appealing to humanitarian organizations to intervene urgently to ensure safety and provide the necessary needs, claiming that “the Israeli army is searching the hospital and shooting inside different sections.”

The hospital's director, Hussam Abu Safiya, said the situation in the hospital was 'catastrophic' and called for protection of the facility and its patients.

The war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza broke out on October 7, 2023, after the Palestinian group launched an unprecedented attack on southern Israel, killing 1,139 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping over 200, according to Israeli officials.

In the Gaza Strip, Israel launched a large-scale response of airstrikes and a ground incursion. Palestinian officials reported that over 43,000 people had been killed at the time of publication.
