Description

China's Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Hua Chunying said calling Chinese media reports on the US Capitol riot propaganda showed double standards are being used by western countries. Hua was speaking at a news conference in Beijing on Friday.

"Why do some people chose entire different words and make entire different reaction when they describe what happened in the Capitol Hill and what happened in Hong Kong. Why do they call the Chinese media report propaganda and disinformation when they just make reports on facts. If the reports are not the ones they want to read, aren’t they the factual reports? I think what they want is not factual news," said the spokesperson.

She pointed out that such discrepancies in how the US adminstration describes the situation in Hong Kong is something that "causes more damage to US relations with other countries now more than with any previous administration."

The US Capitol riot triggered reactions across the world with leaders condemning the violence.
