Security measures have been tightened in Geneva ahead of a summit between American President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, as seen on Tuesday.
Members of the police and the gendarmerie patrolled the streets, many of which had been blocked off, whilst Parc La Grange, the site where the summit between the two leaders will take place, was closed off to the public.
"When you have a meeting like that, it's inconvenient but I think it's necessary. I'm not going to come to Geneva for a couple of days, I'm going to stay out of here," said local resident Nico.
Marcello, another Geneva resident, spoke on the benefits that such a meeting might bring to the city.
"It's an important event for many reasons, the first reason being that photos and videos will be taken for TV and viewed by the world. So, this event is very important. It's such an important event that will offer a view of Geneva to the world, and therefore give Geneva a reputation."
The meeting between Biden and Putin comes three years after former US President Donald Trump met with Putin in Helsinki, after which he faced criticism for backing Putin's denial of US election interference.
