Hundreds of demonstrators joined hands on Saturday to form a human chain between Berlin's Russian and Ukrainian embassies to demand an end to the ongoing conflict.
Footage shows demonstrators singing while forming the human chain. Some can also be seen waving both the Russian and Ukrainian flags while marching to the embassies in the German capital.
"We appeal to diplomacy to be there for peace and to create peace, against war and arms deliveries," one demonstrator said. "The clock is ticking, and I don't know if we still have enough time. I hope so. I have children and grandchildren myself, and I hope that they can grow up in a peaceful world."
Some demonstrators claimed there will be no end to the conflict in the near future as long as both states are being 'financially' supported and provided weaponry from their allies.
"This war just produces dead bodies on both sides, which is somehow unnecessary when you think that there's no solution in one of the sides winning the war soon," another demonstrator added.
Moscow launched a military offensive in Ukraine in late February 2022 after recognising the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), claiming that Kiev had failed to guarantee their special status under the 2014 Minsk Agreements, and urging Ukraine to declare itself officially neutral and give assurances that it would never join NATO.
Kiev denounced the Russian action as an invasion. Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky imposed martial law throughout the country, announcing a general mobilisation, while the EU and the US imposed several rounds of sanctions on Moscow.
