Description

Thousands of Scottish and Hungarian football fans gathered in Stuttgart for the must-win Euro 2024 clash on Sunday.

Footage shows supporters chanting and sharing their expectations ahead of the match.

"We'll win, we are ready. They will also have to win, this may be an end-to-end game. But we know we are more than capable. If we play well, we'll win the game, and we'll go through, so that's what we hope,' one Scottish fan said.

Both teams needed a win to come third in group A and keep their knockout qualification hopes alive.

"Hopefully we'll be able to win. The mood is pretty good here, I think," a Hungarian fan added.

"There's a really good buzz around the city today, lots and lots of Scottish fans and I think we're quite buoyant," added another Scottish fan. "It's obviously the third game it's the last game and it's winner takes all tonight so that's what we're looking forward to."

A 100th minute goal for Hungary broke the impasse, and sealed Scotland's fate. The Tartan Army has never made it past the group stage in a major tournament.

The match also saw Hungarian forward Barnabas Varga stretchered off the pitch following a collision as Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn and his teammate Anthony Ralston tried to clear a free kick. At time of publication, Varga was in a stable condition in hospital.
