Dozens of supporters gathered to rally against the British government's extradition of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to the US, in London on Saturday.

Protesters could be seen holding 'Don’t extradite Assange' signs calling on the UK government to stop the extradition process.

"The consequences for democracy are catastrophic," Stella Assange, Julian Assange's wife, commented on her husband's detention.

Footage also features a bronze life-size sculpture of the WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange alongside the whistleblower Edward Snowden and Chelsea Manning appeared in Parliament Square as part of the campaign for Assange's release from prison in London where he is under threat of extradition to the US.

The WikiLeaks founder has been imprisoned in the UK since 2019, where he is awaiting a final hearing of his appeal against the British government's decision to extradite him to the United States.

He faces charges in the US for releasing over 700,000 confidential documents on American military and diplomatic actions, particularly in Iraq and Afghanistan, starting in 2010.
