A group of Insulate Britain activists blocked two roads surrounding Parliament Square in London on Thursday morning. Several of the demonstrators glued their hands to the tarmac in order to make the police’s removal operations harder and cause a bigger disruption to traffic.
Medical teams were busy using chemical solutions to dissolve the glue so that police could confirm the arrests.
Protesters are demanding the government insulate all social housing and make it mandatory for properties to have adequate insulation. This would also decrease fuel consumption and consequent emission of carbon dioxide, which should be a priority of all politicians say activists.
