Feeding unsold pines to zoo animals is an annual tradition all over Germany. Only unsold, untreated Christmas trees from a limited number of dealers get on the menu for the zoo residents.
While some animals like Siberian Ibex or Himalayan Tahr feasted on the leffovers by eating green branches, Asian elephants showed some creativity by playing football or throwing Christmas trees in the air to the great delight of the zoo visitors.
The trees were also served to Reindeer, bison, sloths, bears and some other animals.
