Description

Israeli air fighters launched several airstrikes on Hamad City, Qatar-funded residential complex in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, as footage filmed on Friday shows.

The footage captures plumes of thick smoke billowing from the city after Israeli jets dropped four bombs in rapid succession. One of the residential buildings was reduced to rubble as a result of the intense bombing.

Emergency services, including ambulances, rushed to the scene. However, there were no immediate reports of casualties or injuries.

Previously on Friday, the Israeli military had issued new evacuation orders targeting the eastern Deir al-Balah area and the northwestern regions of Khan Younis, which include Hamad City.

Notably, Hamad City is within a humanitarian zone that the Israeli military had earlier designated as a safe area for Gaza residents to evacuate to. Therefore, the vicinity around the residential towers is densely crowded with tents housing displaced people

IDF claimed that the humanitarian zone had been "exploited for terrorist activities and the continuous launching of rockets toward the State of Israel."

The Hamas-Israel war erupted after Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing 1,139 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping over 200, according to Israeli officials.

In the enclave, the IDF launched a large-scale campaign of airstrikes and ground incursions, killing 40,005 Palestinians and injuring more than 92,401 others as of the time of publication.
